An American photographer best known for black and white photography of New York, Berenice Abbott believed a photograph are special and unique. It cannot be copied or mimic others. A photograph will represent the historical picture of the past. The historical past or memories of the photograph usually have a very meaningful and emotional story behind it. A photograph has its own significant meaning, which communicates through the details of the photo. The photograph on the left that I have found is Migrant Mother, taken by Dorothea Lange in 1936. In 1935, Lange and her husband, Paul Taylor, was transfer to the Resettlement Administrations, one of Roosevelt’s New Deal programs designed to help the country recovers from depression. She began working as a photographer and took snapshots of events that happened after the depression. The caption for this piece of photograph is title as Migrant Mother, which will give away a hint of what the photograph is about. People would start to have an assumption that it is a woman who is migrating to another place with her children.
